I’m Ala Shiban. I work on developer platforms — the layer between an idea and it running somewhere, for real, for other people.

I’ve spent time on cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, and the organisational shape that makes either of them work. Before that: program management at Microsoft, a volunteering group, a web series, and a long detour through robotics and image processing.

This site is where the long essays and the passing notes live in the same list. Longer pieces get their own page; short ones say everything they have to say right on the front page.
